JOHN E. OLIVER As a result of his extensive experience, he has acted in an advisory capacity for the American Institute of Banking. He is on the faculty of the BAI Graduate School of Banking and his consulting services and training programs are utilized by banks of all sizes and types in the United States, from small community banks to major institutions. Internationally his programs have been implemented for bankers from Asia, Europe, Africa, South America and Australia. Mr. Oliver began his career with National Westminster Bank in England, where he gained considerable knowledge of the retail banking environment. He then moved to the merchant bank, Kleinwort Benson. In 1978, he entered the world of international banking when he joined Rothschild Intercontinental Bank. With RIB's successor bank, Amex Bank, he was transferred to the United States to form a new project finance/venture capital subsidiary that was subsequently acquired by Continental Bank. His experience covers virtually every sector of the financial services industry. In his present and ongoing role as a banker, Mr. Oliver works with one of Scandinavia's largest banks, assisting in some of its efforts in the United States. His educational background together with his extensive industry experience and a proven ability to communicate have resulted in his current position as a highly regarded consultant in the field of training and development. He is a member of the American Society for Training and Development and is listed in the U.S. publications Who's Who in Finance and Industry and Who's Who in the World, as well as in the Dictionary of International Biography published in Cambridge, England. He is the author of the book What Really Is Expected of Me - The Community Bank Directors Guidebook and has contributed to articles in various banking publications. - 1985 Amex (formerly Rothschild Intercontinental Bank) was a
consortium bank with specialization in project finance. Responsibilities included the
formulation and implementation of both strategic and marketing plans in this sector as
well as loan and equity portfolio management. Subsequently transferred to Houston, Texas,
to start up a new subsidiary for this bank. Received full credit training both in-house at this merchant
bank and through a period of assignment to the London office of First National Bank of
