Mr. Schaefer has over 30 years of banking experience with an emphasis on operations and back office consolidation within the Retail Bank. During his tenure with Bank of America, Mr. Schaefer was a Vice President and specialist in International Operations. He has implemented various programs in both Domestic and International Retail Branches designed to improve productivity, customer service and increase market share. Mr. Schaefer has planned, developed, and reengineered branch banking by streamlining workflows and back-office consolidation through automation, and by establishing best practice procedures.

Worked as a consultant to the largest Southeast Asian retail bank to streamline their retail bank delivery system. Developed best practice standards and marketing segmentation programs designed to improve customer service, reduce operating costs and increase market share.

  • Designed and implemented new account opening procedures reducing operating costs by over 50%.
  • Implemented "Self Service/After Hours" banking in metropolitan areas reducing transaction processing costs by 40%.
  • Designed selective on-line signature verification for use both in "clearing" and in the branches.
  • Developed and implemented Productivity Management Training course.

  • Implemented an office automation platform within Corporate Real Estate to facilitate bill paying for real estate construction projects.

  • Developed, implemented, and managed the regional proof centers for the retail bank in Northern California. The development of the proof centers resulted in further economies for the branch system with the centralization of General Ledger, bill paying, and bank by mail processing. The overall project reduced equipment by one third and improved productivity by over fifty percent.

  • Worked as a key member of the Money Transfer Automation Team, to install an electronic money transfer switch in San Francisco to improve office productivity in handling money transfers between banks and customers.
